OAKLAND, CA (February 25, 2012) – For one night only, fans will witness the world’s best monster trucks battle it out in the ultimate event of intense speed, racing, and destruction as Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® returns to Oakland with more trucks than ever before. SIXTEEN massive trucks will be part of the dirt-flying, car-crushing action at O.co Coliseum (formerly Oakland Coliseum), featuring two more 10,000 pound beasts than last year. The powerhouse truck lineup includes the legendary GRAVE DIGGER®, celebrating its 30th Anniversary of car crushing mayhem; all-new 2012 season trucks Metal Mulisha and Captain America®; the Bay Area debuts of Tasmanian Devil (“Taz”) and Lucas Oil Crusader™; and the return of Monster Jam World Finals Champions Maximum Destruction® and El Toro Loco®. **truck line-up subject to change
In addition to world-class racing and freestyle competition action, die-hard fans can come to the stadium early to enjoy the Party in the Pits pre-show experience, which gives fans unparalleled access to view their favorite trucks up close, meet the star drivers for autographs, and take photos.
One of the most popular touring family entertainment sporting events in the world, the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® is a high-flying, car-crushing explosive event of demolition, speed, power, and unbelievable stunts with the world’s best monster trucks and drivers whose skills provide an awesome spectacle of “rock-and-roar” that will bring fans to their feet cheering for more.
Approximately 12 feet tall and about 12 feet wide, monster trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster truck jumps can span as long as 125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet high.
